The leading philosophical principle
The leading philosophical principle of ACT Counselling Services is that of ‘Community.’ We believe that Human Beings are social creatures and have an innate drive to Be, Belong and Become. We believe that only connection with other people makes this possible.
The above principle relates to the 3 services provided by ACT Counselling Services. When considering Therapy; if the person who is experiencing difficulties could have overcome them by them self, then they would have done so. Coming to Therapy means that connection, for at least a short time with another person (the therapist), within a safe and trusting relationship facilitates movement and growth.
Training provided by ACT Counselling Services
The Training provided by ACT Counselling Services, whether it is the Diploma or Short Courses, requires participants to gather and to share personal and professional experiences as a group. The learning and experiences provide both personal and professional growth.
Lastly, Counselling and Psychotherapy, particularly private practice can be a very isolating profession. Individual Clinical Supervision and/or Group Supervision provide more connection to other Therapists. The development and support to be gained from Supervision is crucial for a Therapist to keep well in order to keep others well.
